Octavia Spencer: My Weight Is 'Not Healthy'

Originally posted 01/29/2012 10:45PM

Octavia Spencer couldn't be on a better career path – but The Help star is not without some concerns about herself.

"I am not healthy at this weight," Spencer, 39, said backstage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she won a best supporting actress trophy.

"Any time you have too much around the middle, then there is a problem. [And] when you reach a certain weight, you are less valuable."

How to Play the Bridesmaids' Drinking Game

That's one way to pass time during a two-hour awards ceremony.

The ladies of Bridesmaids enjoyed Sunday night's Screen Actors Guild Awards one sip at a time with a game they invented that honors a filmmaker who's no stranger to winning the top prize: Martin Scorsese.

Taking the stage with beverages in-hand to present their film, which was nominated in the outstanding cast category, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy explained the rules to their drinking game of choice.

"You have to take a drink every time, and I mean every time, you hear the word 'Scorsese,' " McCarthy explained, a mini bottle of Grey Goose in her hands."You'd be surprised how much that comes up in just casual conversation because people like to throw that thing around."

Mary Tyler Moore's Life Achievement Honored at SAG Awards

Originally posted 01/29/2012 09:25PM

Before she was a household name, Mary Tyler Moore was just another 18-year-old actress trying to make a name for herself in the industry – which meant finding a name that wasn't already registered with the Screen Actors Guild.

It was 1955 – long before she won the world over with her comedic chops and charm – not to mention her knack for wearing capri pants; before she made an impression as Dick Van Dyke's wife; before she made TV history as original single lady, Mary Richards.

Now more than 50 years after she made the leap from "Mary Moore" to "Mary Tyler Moore," the veteran entertainer, 75, was presented with the annual Life Achievement Award by her costar of 50 years ago, Van Dyke, at Sunday night's Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Giuliana Rancic may have one of the coolest jobs in Hollywood – and that's not something she takes lightly.

Well, except for when the E! host takes a break from reporting to goof off with the hottest stars on the red carpet – just one of the perks of her job! – with a little lighthearted fun.

Sunday night's Screen Actors Guild Awards was no exception, and before celebrities filed into L.A.'s Shrine Exposition Center, Rancic had three targets in mind: George Clooney and girlfriend Stacey Keibler and Glee star Jane Lynch.

Katrina Bowden turned heads on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards with a very special accessory – an engagement ring.

Her fiancé, Ben Jorgensen, popped the question Saturday night at a suite in the Four Seasons Hotel.

"I was so shocked," the 30 Rock star, 23, told E! host Giuliana Rancic Sunday night outside L.A.'s Shrine Exposition Center. "And I said, 'Oh my God,' and I hugged him."

His response? "He said, 'Is that a yes?' "

Screen Actors Guild Awards: What the Stars Will Be Eating (and Drinking)!

Originally posted 01/29/2012 01:45PM

Forget places like Koi, Spago and The Ivy – with the feast awaiting them at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony, Hollywood's elite will be counting themselves among the world's luckiest gourmands faster then you can say "Brown Derby."

For the main course, James Beard Award-winning chef – and mom – Suzanne Goin is offering slow-roasted salmon with yellow beets, spicy carrot salad and raita; grilled chicken breast with black rice, pea shoots and tangerine vinaigrette; and roasted root vegetables with quinoa and persimmon salsa.

Even notoriously picky Jack Donaghy, the character Alec Baldwin is nominated for best actor in a TV comedy for playing on 30 Rock, would find no cause for complaint.

For those herbivores among the 1,200 joining the SAGs for dinner, Goin is serving a vegetarian option: spicy carrot salad with yellow beets, cucumber, and black mustard seeds; roasted root vegetables with quinoa and persimmon salsa; and black-rice salad with English peas, pea shoots and tangerine vinaigrette.

Armie Hammer will certainly be looking his best when he hits the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. But he's looking pretty darn good in a mug shot that's just been released.

The J. Edgar star, who's nominated for best supporting actor, posed for this picture in November, when he was arrested for marijuana possession in Sierra Nevada, Texas.

Authorities allege they found pot cookies and a brownie, according to the police report.

The Artist's Jean Dujardin: Meet the Nominated Star

Originally posted 01/15/2012 02:00PM

Jean Dujardin likens his high recognition factor in his native France to living "in a big village," but with the accolades he's now receiving for his work in The Artist, the handsome actor had better get used to having fans in America.

"I am thrilled. I am proud. I am over the moon," Dujardin, speaking in French, told PEOPLE about his Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations for his role as a screen star in the silent, black-and-white pastiche about Hollywood's bumpy transition from silent movies to talkies.

"I'm incredibly surprised. And every day there are new awards, and it's so unbelievable."

Demián Bichir, star of the movie A Better Life, may not be a household name, but after a SAG nomination for best actor alongside George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, he better get used to being in the company of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Already well known in his home country, the Mexican-born actor, 48, is about to become more familiar to the rest of the world, too. Here are a few things about him.

1. He got lightheaded after his SAG nomination
When PEOPLE asked Bichir how he felt after his unexpected nomination for his role as an immigrant father in the drama A Better Life, he said, jokingly, "I really don't feel anything. I am a little numb right now. But then that may be because I am drunk. I have been drinking tequila all morning."
