Golden Globe Winner Natalie Portman Shows Off Her Baby Bump

Originally posted 01/16/2011 07:15PM

There were great expectations about Natalie Portman's Golden Globes night: Would she win a best actress award – and what would she wear?

On both fronts, the night delivered.

The mom-to-be won best performance in a motion picture drama for her turn as the disturbed ballet dancer Nina Sayers in Black Swan, and on stage she thanked her French dancer fiancé Benjamin Millepied, with whom she's expecting her first child.

"He's the best actor," she said on stage about Millepied, who choreographed the film and also costarred in it as a dancer who said he was not sexually attracted to her character. "It's not true," she said onstage. "He totally wants to sleep with me."

Before the ceremony, Portman, 29, showcased her baby bump and glowed in a Viktor & Rolf gown and Tiffany jewelry on the red carpet.

Katey Sagal, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer and More Pick Up First Globe Wins

Golden Globe virgins rejoice – it was your night.

Glee's Chris Colfer scored a major win early Sunday night at the Golden Globes, taking home best supporting actor for his role as Kurt Hummel in Fox's hit, which later earned top honors in the TV category – the award for best series comedy.

"I think I dropped my heart between Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, so if anyone sees it, please give it back," he said as he excitedly picked up the award. Praising his cast who "deserve this as much as I do," Colfer, 20, spoke of his role, as an openly gay teen, as a positive example for kids who have been bullied in school.

His costar Jane Lynch was named best supporting actress for her role as coach Sue Sylvester.

"The greatest thrill is I get these 14 year-old-kids coming up to me vibrating out of their bodies saying how happy Glee makes them," Lynch, who won the Emmy for the same role, said in her funny acceptance speech.

Kaley Cuoco's Big Engagement Fake-Out

Kaley Cuoco made a big announcement on the red carpet at Sunday's Golden Globes: The Big Bang Theory star told Ryan Seacrest she was engaged – then she took it back.

After noticing a major sparkler on her ring finger, Seacrest asked the actress if she had any happy news to share.

"I'm engaged," Cuoco, 25, said, pausing as the E! host happily congratulated her. Then, she clarified: "I'd like you to know who I'm engaged to – Chopard, the jewelry designer."

So, why was the Golden Globes presenter wearing the ring on that finger?

Golden Globes: Glamour, Heartthrobs – and Awards!

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sandra Bullock – they're just a few of the heavy hitters who are expected to converge on this year's Golden Globes, upping the glamour factor to new heights.

Hollywood's royal couple Jolie and Pitt are due to make an appearance in honor of her best actress nod for The Tourist, and Jolie can always be counted on to cut a stunning figure on the red carpet.

Fellow nominee Natalie Portman (for Black Swan) will display a different kind of style – all eyes will be on the pregnant actress as she shows off her awards-season maternity fashion.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is no stranger to the red carpet, but gearing up for her first Golden Globes as a nominee is bringing out a whole new range of emotions.

"I'm super excited [and] very nervous, oddly enough," Hewitt told PEOPLE at a W magazine party celebrating the Golden Globes Friday night. "I don't get nervous, but I feel nervous. I'm really excited."

Hewitt, who attended the party with her actor boyfriend Alex Beh, earned her first Globe nomination – best performance by an actress in a mini-series or a motion picture made for television – for her portrayal of a Texas physical therapist-turned prostitute in The Client List.

PEOPLE's Movie Critic Picks Who Should Win at the Golden Globes

I love the Golden Globes. They efficiently toss out statuettes for film and TV in one snappy show, ply celebrities with enough champagne to say silly things on camera, and insist on bringing back Ricky Gervais to host, knowing he'll say something to tick off somebody important.

So, in the awards-show spirit, let's get to who ought to win Sunday night.

Best Motion Picture – Drama: The King's Speech

No question, The Social Network is the movie of the moment. It's at the top of critics' lists, and with an amazing script from Aaron Sorkin, kinetic directing from David Fincher, and terrific performances from all the actors, it should be. But call me fusty, I'm sticking with The King's Speech.

Ricky Gervais: I Think I Can Notch Up the Globes

Originally posted 01/13/2011 12:50PM

He poked fun at some of the biggest names in Hollywood – Mel Gibson, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell – as host of last year's Golden Globe Awards. So, Ricky Gervais just assumed he'd worn out his welcome.

"I didn't think I'd be asked again, and I didn't think I'd say yes if I was asked," the British funnyman, 49, who will indeed return as host this Sunday, tells PEOPLE.

Now, of course, he wants to misbehave even more this year. "I don't think I went far enough," he says. "I think I can notch it up. That was me on sort of like 2 or 3. I think I can notch it up to 4 or 5."

Now cancer free, Michael Douglas is ready to get back to the business of Hollywood, preparing for award shows and doing research for his next role as the flamboyant showman Liberace.

"I've been watching a lot of tapes of him," Douglas, 66, tells PEOPLE. "He wasn't the greatest dancer nor the greatest singer, but he was a great pianist and entertainer."

Douglas says he is planning to take piano lessons, but he hasn’t decided yet if he’ll sing. "We’ll see how it goes," says Douglas, whose distinctive baritone is back after undergoing seven grueling weeks of radiation and chemotherapy for throat cancer.

Cory Monteith Doesn't Like Awards Show Parties

Originally posted 01/12/2011 02:15PM

While most awards season participants can't wait to hit Hollywood's A-List parties this time of year, Glee star Cory Monteith couldn't care less.

"I'm not a big fan of the after-parties – not at all," says Monteith, 28, who plays Finn Hudson the Golden Globe-nominated show. "I like to go to the [awards] show, see other people on shows, meet people and then call it a night."

It's not that Monteith, who attended Fox's Television Critics Association party at Villa Sorriso in Pasadena, Calif., on Tuesday, doesn't like to celebrate. It's just that he feels "like every day is kind of a celebration."
