It was a rainy night in Los Angeles on Sunday, but there was still plenty of stargazing at the Golden Globe afterparties – even among the celebrities themselves.

At the Summit after-party at the Beverly Hilton, Glee star Matthew Morrison seemed almost as thrilled with the people he'd met as with his sitcom winning best comedy TV series.

"I got to tell you, I talked to Sean Penn and George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro," he said. "It's been amazing."

De Niro, it turns out, is apparently a Glee fan. Doing his best De Niro impression, Morrison recalled: "He came up to me and said, 'Hey, you the guy, you the guy.' "

The Twilight actors were also in demand, with Bill Paxton bringing his 12-year-old daughter Lydia to the Summit party in search of Taylor Lautner. (Unfortunately, he had already left.)

Perhaps it was wise for Susan Downey to tell her husband, Robert Downey Jr., not to prepare a speech for the Golden Globe Awards. He did just fine without one.

"I know he didn't have [a speech] fully prepared, but he is really good off the cuff, and he actually tends to do better when he doesn't plan things," Susan said backstage after the ceremony.

The actor gave one of the more amusing addresses of the evening in accepting the best comedy actor award for his Sherlock Holmes role. "I would like to thank Susan Downey for telling me that Matt Damon was going to win, so don't bother to prepare a speech," the actor began.

Rain from the skies over Southern California and tears from an emotional Meryl Streep could not dampen spirits at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's 67th annual Golden Globes Awards from Los Angeles on Sunday.

Streep won her leading actress award for Julie & Julia and compared the indomitable spirit of her mother to that of master chef Julia Child, whom the acclaimed actress plays in writer-director Nora Ephron's movie.

The Blind Side star Sandra Bullock won the dramatic leading actress Globe for her portrayal of the real-life Leigh Anne Touhy, who brought a homeless high-school student into her family. Bullock said that the Touhys taught her that a family is made up of those who have your back, and she thanked husband Jesse James for having hers.

She also told her American family to put down the Maker's Mark, and her German family – in perfect German – to brush their teeth and go to bed.

Cancer-Stricken Michael C. Hall Says He's Doing Fine

Michael C. Hall, who has been undergoing treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma, made his first public appearance since announcing his battle with the disease at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

"It's nice to see colleagues," he told reporters after winning the award for best actor in a drama for Showtime's Dexter, "and for me to show [people] I am doing fine."

The very private actor, 38, only revealed his battle with cancer four days ago, and said he originally wanted to keep his condition a secret.

"I had every intention of keeping it quiet, but because award shows were imminent, I had to make a statement," Hall said. But, he added, that it was nice to be able to make the statement when his prognosis was good.

Meryl Streep beat her very own self by winning the Golden Globe as best leading actress in Julie & Julia, as the celebrated "French Chef," Julia Child. During a highpoint of Sunday night's ceremony, the revered leading lady first said that she wants to change her name to T-Bone Streep, then turned unabashedly emotional.

Also nominated for her role in the marital comedy It's Complicated, Streep chose the moment of her Julia victory to pay tribute to her mother, who had no patience for doom and gloom, she said.

"I'm not like that," said Streep, who admitted she finds it difficult to put on her happy face, even during a celebratory night like the one she was experiencing, in light of all difficulties in the world. But, she continued, "I am really grateful."

She also thanked her writer-director on Julie & Julia, Nora Ephron. "I love Nora," she said – twice.

Stars Get Rained On, But Maintain Sunny Outlook at Globes

The arrivals line at the 67th annual Golden Globes Awards proved uncharacteristically soggy on Sunday – but the stars still beamed as they walked the red carpet.

A downpour greeted nominees, presenters and guests as they poured from their limousines and into the Beverly Hilton Hotel. As Tina Fey described the scene, "It's not rain, it's just God crying for NBC."

Despite the weather, the stars made time for interview and fans. While George Clooney's constant companion Elisabetta Canalis remained shielded from the inclement weather, the actor braved the elements and the crowds, greeting people face-to-face in the grandstands and signing autographs.

Shrugging off the precipitation, a sunny Julia Roberts, who was accompanied by her agent and Tom Hanks, with wife Rita Wilson, used the TV cameras to wish First Lady Michelle Obama a happy birthday.

Wyclef Jean asked for help, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is extending its collective hand.

The group, which is behind this Sunday's Golden Globe Awards, announced Thursday that it is assisting in the rescue and relief effort now taking place in Haiti, which was devastated Tuesday by a 7.0 earthquake.

In its statement, the organization said, "The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is announcing at the Golden Globes that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Foundation is donating $100,000 to Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti relief fund for the victims of the Haiti earthquake."

Also supporting the nation hit by disaster are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, whose foundation on Wednesday committed $1 million in relief.
