George Clooney isn't shy about expressing his feelings. Just ask Mary Tyler Moore.

Asked at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she won the Life Achievement Award, whether she'd be mingling with any A-listers in particular – say, Mr. Clooney himself? – Moore recalled her thrilling first encounter with the best actor nominee.

"I met George Clooney in a very small elevator, and he came over and he put his arms around me," the actress, 75, told PEOPLE. "I think he said something like, 'I love you.' It was maybe two years ago. I am going to seek him out tonight."

When asked to describe her phenomenal success the last few months, Sandra Bullock has one word for it: Baffling.

The Blind Side star, who has made her name in lighter romantic comedy fare such as The Proposal and Miss Congeniality, says the response to her serious turn as tough-as-nails mom Leigh Anne Tuohy has been "overwhelming."

"I love doing what I love doing, but it's not a road that leads to this place," she tells PEOPLE. "It's just been completely baffling and unexpected and overwhelming and sweet and fun."

Date Night! Star Couples Share Sweet Evening at the SAG Awards

Romance seemed to be in the air Saturday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles as stars and their spouses showed their sweet affection for each other.

• Kevin Bacon was a bundle of nerves before his name was announced as best male actor in a TV movie or miniseries for his role in HBO's Taking Chance, but wife Kyra Sedgwick kept him looking his best. How? "I had to blot his face a little," she admitted to PEOPLE at the afterparty.

Mad Men star Christina Hendricks's new husband, Geoffrey Arend, was clearly his wife's biggest fan. "I feel like the luckiest man ever. She's such a cutie pie," he raved. "When Michael C. Hall said 'I want to thank my wife for wearing that dress,' I feel that way every single awards show." Hendricks agreed, telling PEOPLE, "He's been feeling me all night."

You Voted! Best & Worst of the SAG Awards

Originally posted 01/24/2010 09:35AM

While live blogging the Screen Actors Guild Awards on PEOPLE.com, our readers got very vocal about who scored big – and who tanked. Relive the night's highlights – and lowlights – as voted on by you!

Whose risk-taking tuxedo do you like the most?
Justin Timberlake's blue-shirted Dolce & Gabbana ensemble easily won this category, taking 50% of the vote over Glee star Mark Salling's retro suit (29%) and Kevin Bacon's all-black ensemble (21%).

What's your favorite of Betty White's roles?
The recipient of the lifetime achievement SAG Award has held many memorable roles, but for 67% of PEOPLE.com readers, her crowning achievement was her turn as ditsy Rose Nylund on Golden Girls. Her portrayal of saucy Sue Ann on Mary Tyler Moore was a distant second, with 22% of the vote.

Who has the most daring cleavage?
Although women didn't bare their, ahem, assets as proudly as they did at the Golden Globes, a few did take the plunge – and you thought Glee star Lea Michele was the most brave, with 83% of you calling her green Malandrino gown the most daring. Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen came in second, with 17% of the vote.

Who looked best in red?
Crimson was definitely the color of the night! And according to 43% of PEOPLE.com readers, Mad Men star Christina Hendricks was the hottest woman in red, with Carey Mulligan and Mariah Carey tied for second place, with 29% of the vote each.

Which actor is most in need of a good shave?
A beard might be the hottest accessory for Hollywood's leading men these days, but that doesn't mean PEOPLE.com readers like it! George Clooney and Timberlake tied for first place, each claiming 35% of the vote as the star who most needs a trip to the barber shop. In second place? Mad Men star Jon Hamm, with 24% of the vote.

Michael C. Hall Says Winning Awards Has Boosted His Spirits

Originally posted 01/23/2010 10:35PM

Michael C. Hall had plenty to celebrate Saturday night.

Just a week after winning a Golden Globe for his serial killer star turn on Showtime's Dexter, the actor was named outstanding actor in a drama series at Saturday's Screen Actors Guild Awards. And, he told PEOPLE backstage, his cancer is in remission.

"I'm two-thirds of the way through this treatment that already has this thing in remission," he said. "It's nice in the homestretch to have this kind of shock of positive energy. It's a celebration."

Hall, 38, who is very private, initially said he revealed that he was being treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma, because he knew he would be making several public appearances. "Because award shows were imminent, I had to make a statement," he said at last week's Globes.

As it turns out, there has been one unexpected and positive result of his admission. "I've been feeling very well," he told reporters backstage at the SAG Awards, "because I made this announcement. Because of these public events, I've heard from people I would have not have heard from otherwise."
