A year after his emotional comeback performance earned him a Golden Globe for The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke was once again on cloud nine at this year's show, thanks to the new love he squired down the red carpet.

Rourke's girlfriend – who has widely been misidentified on the Internet – is Russian-born model Anastassija Makarenko, Rourke reveals exclusively to PEOPLE. "She's a gift from heaven," says the actor, 57, who seemed smitten as he kept a tight grip the stunning blonde throughout the evening.

"Obviously she's a very beautiful woman," says Rourke. "But she's got the biggest heart, she's got a great family, she's really close to her mother and father – they're great people."

The Most Romantic Couples at the Globes

For actors giving thanks at award shows, it's not uncommon to hear touching shout-outs to family, agents, spouses and the man upstairs. But Sunday's Golden Globes telecast was positively a lovefest for stars, who called out their romantic partners in their acceptance speeches or cuddled with them on the red carpet and at the various after-parties.

From Sandra Bullock's tearful dedication to husband Jesse James to George Clooney's playful interaction with girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis on the red carpet to Jeff Bridges's insistence that camera crews pan to the audience to get a full shot of his wife while he accepted his best actor trophy, here are some of the night's sweetest soundbites and cutest sightings:

• "To my husband, there is no – there is no surprise that my work got better when I met you because I never knew what it felt like for someone to have my back. So, thank you." – Best actress in a drama winner Bullock, emotionally thanking husband Jesse James for his support.

PEOPLE TV Critic Rates Ricky Gervais

PEOPLE TV Critic Rates Ricky Gervais

I'd been looking forward to Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes ever since he showed up on the Emmys: He did a sensational bit about how what would be considered average good looks in the movies pass for handsome on television. The thought of him at the helm of an entire awards show was irresistible.

But at the start of the Globes, as he complained about seeing all the glory of creating The Office go to NBC's Steve Carrell – then upped the ante by suggesting the American version has jumped the shark – a viewer might have realized how tough it is to tell when Gervais actually is joking. I suddenly worried that his faint air of damp anxiety might turn out in this situation to be genuine flop sweat.

Gervais's often discomfiting humor – the fatuous smile, the darting eyes, the giggle, the tinily precise, perfect digs at others and, yes, at himself – operates on the tricky notion that you'll like him most when he's most unlikable. Yet here he was in a room of stars dressed to the nines, with grand projects to promote and wearing ribbons in support of Haiti.

It was as if the ugliest, whiniest mutt in the shelter thought it had a chance of being loved.

Jennifer Aniston was not short on male companionship – friends and former flames alike – during an eventful Golden Globes weekend.

The actress, 40, kicked off Friday night at CAA's pre-Golden Globes party at the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica. There, she ran into rumored former flame Bradley Cooper, with whom she shared a brief hug.
