Who says nobody in L.A. takes public transit?

For his entrance to Monday night’s Emmy Awards, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel decided to arrive at the ceremony in style – by taking the Los Angeles Metro.

Kimmel teased the stunt on Twitter earlier in the afternoon and made good on his promise, riding the subway in full formal attire (except for the rainbow suspenders under his vest, worn as a tribute to Robin Williams).

Kimmel and wife Molly McNearney took L.A.’s Red Line subway from Hollywood and Highland to the Nokia Theater, a trip that Google Maps estimates would take around 31 minutes.

No word on whether Kimmel paid full fare, or if he indulged in the timeless L.A. tradition of riding for free.
