Late Night host Seth Meyers chatted with PEOPLE about his upcoming pressure-packed hosting gig at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Aug. 25.
Are you freaking out?
I'm a nerve junkie. I keep doing things that are nerve-inducing. When I did the White House Correspondents' Dinner and the ESPYs, it was a little less stressful because I was the entertainer in a room not full of entertainers. With the Emmys, every face you see are people that have entertained you over the years. I hope I can at least repay the favor for the 15 minutes I'm up there.
Is your tux all picked out?
Yes! It's funny, since I began hosting Late Night I've gained a better sense of style. I'm not going to lie, we might have a costume change in there. There's a lot of ways this can go down.
Now that you're in the fashion game, who do you predict will be best dressed?
Good question. It's very hard to think that Kerry Washington's not going to be at the top of this year's best-dressed list. Just like a young America, I'm going to bet on Washington.
Do you still get starstruck?
I'm not beyond getting starstruck. I've never met George Clooney or Angelina Jolie. Of course, I'd just pretend like they should be thrilled to meet me, but on the inside, I'd be starstruck.
What are your favorite TV shows?
I'm a big fan of Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Game of Thrones. And Fargo and True Detective were exciting new shows this year. The worst I'll do is get caught in an endless SportsCenter loop. That's when my wife [Alexi Ashe] will turn on Sex and the City in retaliation, and all of a sudden I hear those four girls trying to find love in New York City circa 1999.
Is your wife nervous for you?
She is so supportive. But she doesn't want me to bomb because I'd know it, and that would just ruin the after-party!
The 66th Annual Emmy Awards air Monday, Aug. 25, live on NBC (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT)
