Forget basking in the pre-Oscars glow. Sure, June Squibb says she's honored to be a Best Supporting Actress nominee for her role as the prickly matriarch in Nebraska, but the veteran actress says that once the awards show is over, she's simply excited to get back to business.

"It's funny, I'm like an old war horse. I just want to get in there and work again," she told reporters with a laugh at Friday's Seventh Annual Women in Film Pre-Oscars Party in Los Angeles, sponsored by Perrier-Jouët, MAC and MaxMara.

The actress, 84, received her first Academy Award nomination this year after more than a half-century in the business and is showing no sign of slowing down – even if she admits to a bit of awards show fatigue.

"It has been a long haul, so to speak, so it will be time for all of us to go back to our lives, because we've kind of lost them in the midst of all of this," she said. "This is very exciting, and I would never have said 'no' to any of it, but there comes a time where you have to say, 'I have to get back to my life.' "

Yet she does admit to having a good-luck charm, who also serves as a personal reminder of her life outside Hollywood.

"My good luck charm is my son, who has been escorting me everywhere, and that's pretty great," she said.

Squibb has also been running the awards show gauntlet alongside Nebraska costar and onscreen husband Bruce Dern, a Best Actor Oscar nominee at age 77, and laughs when it's suggested they could both go home with trophies Sunday night.

"Well then, you would see two very happy, elderly people," she said. "I'll tell you that!"
