Joaquin Phoenix and Leonardo DiCaprio had plenty in common at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards. Both were nominees for best actor in a comedy or musical; both brought their moms to the event; and both later accepted Diddy’s invitation for some after-hours fun.
DiCaprio won for The Wolf of Wall Street, but that didn’t seem to dampen Phoenix’s spirits, as the actors, both 39, hit up Butter Group’s soon-to-open nightclub 1 OAK LA in West Hollywood, where Diddy held court and a deejay spun tunes late into the night – and Diddy’s new DeLeon tequila flowed generously.
Phoenix, who was nominated for Her, arrived at about 10:45 p.m. with his mom, his girlfriend Allie Teilz and some other friends. The famously reclusive actor was in a great mood, smiling and laughing throughout the evening and even hitting the dance floor with Teilz. At one point, Teilz threw her arms around him and the two were lovey dovey.
DiCaprio arrived around 1 a.m. with Margot Robbie, Jonah Hill and other Wolf of Wall Street costars. Robbie danced and chatted with the people at her table, while DiCaprio wanted to remain more anonymous and surrounded himself in a sea of people. Cocktail waitresses with sparklers came out in a line at one point and brought 100 bottles of Cristal to toast the movie.
Diddy, 44, and his girlfriend Cassie arrived with his entourage just after 11:30 p.m. He immediately got on the mic and told people to get to the dance floor, and if they weren’t dancing to get off the dance floor. He then spent the rest of the night mingling and making sure everyone was having fun.
