Did Margot Robbie just get Punk'd?
The Australian beauty theorized that she was the victim of a prank after she and The Wolf of Wall Street costar Jonah Hill were fed the wrong lines through a teleprompter at The Golden Globes on Sunday.
"Maybe it was a joke that they do on rookies like me for the first time," Robbie, 23, told the chuckling audience. "I don't know!"
Robbie and Hill, 30, were supposed to present a clip from their film, nominated for best motion picture (comedy or musical) at the awards show. But when they approached the microphone on stage, an awkward moment ensued.
"I'm not going to lie to you. Right now, they put the wrong stuff on the teleprompter," Hill explained, breaking the silence. "This is for Aaron Eckhart and Paula Patton."
Robbie, who made her Hollywood debut in Martin Scorsese's Wolf, wasn't game to ad-lib the introduction, telling the laughing crowd, "I've never done this before, so I don't want to improvise."
Fortunately for the stars, the show was prepared to go old school: Someone handed Robbie a yellow piece of paper with their planned dialogue. As the Wolf himself, Leonardo DiCaprio, bellowed in the footage that followed, "The show goes on!"
