These Maps Show Facebook Users’ Predictions for the Golden Globes

If Facebook is the ultimate digital water-cooler for talking about award shows, then these maps are invaluable tools for predicting the Golden Globes tonight. Use this information only for good.

According to the social-network site, each map “displays Facebook mentions of this year’s Golden Globe nominees during the week before the ceremony,” while “each state is color-coded based on which nominee was most likely to get buzz compared to the national average.”

American Hustle is not the odds-on favorite for best musical or comedy. Inside Llewyn Davis, befitting its eternally-on-the-outs protagonist, looks like another longshot.

Most of the country seems to think Rush has best picture on lock. Gravity seems to be popular in rural, cold areas, befitting the whole “stranded in the middle of space” conceit of the film.

In the televised side of things, a big chunk of the country has Parks and Recreation fever, which must be nice for co-host Amy Poehler to see. Oddly, California is the only state pulling for the distinctly New York-centric Girls.

Popular opinion here seems is split between Breaking Bad and Downton Abbey, while California is once again the lone dissenter, pulling for The Good Wife. Good for them, sticking up for the underdog like that.
