It’s a golden night in Hollywood.

The 2014 awards show circuit kicked off Sunday night with the 71st annual Golden Globes, and the stars graciously (and sometimes awkwardly) accepted their statues on stage.

When an emotional Amy Adams clutched her award for actress in a musical or comedy for American Hustle, she joked: “I always cry when I’m not supposed to, and then a director asks me to cry and I can’t cry. It really sucks.”

But others didn’t have quite the right sound bite at the ready.

When Jacqueline Bisset picked up her best supporting actress honors for Dancing on the Edge, she could barely eke out a thank you before pulling herself together and issuing a colorful acceptance speech.

“I want to thank the people who have given me joy, and there have been many. And the people that have given me s–––? Like my mother … used to say, go to hell and don’t come back.”
