Hugh Jackman Dresses Like Abraham Lincoln – and Sings! – for David Letterman
In a comical bit of Oscars mischief, Hugh Jackman showed up to The Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday dressed as the 16th president and proceeded to sing the opening line of the Gettysburg Address – to prove that he, and not Daniel Day-Lewis, deserves the Oscar for Best Actor.
"The truth is, I wanted to sway a few last-minute Oscar voters. I'll be honest. I mean, really, can Daniel Day-Lewis do this?" Jackman said before breaking into song.
Jackman, 44, of course, is nominated for his performance as Jean Valjean in the musical Les Misérables.
As for Lincoln, the Australian actor told Letterman: "I don't know why I didn't get cast. Really, I have no idea."
