Some of TV's hottest shows have been recognized for their "outstanding" portrayal of same-sex equality issues.

Fox's Glee, HBO's True Blood, ABC's Modern Family and Grey's Anatomy have all been nominated by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation for the group's 22nd annual Media Awards, which recognize the entertainment industry's impact on same-sex equality issues.

Other nominees among a total of 147 include the films Burlesque, Easy A and The Kids are All Right.

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in New York on March 19, in Los Angeles on April 16, and in San Francisco on May 14.
