Serene Branson Slurs Badly on Live TV at Grammys

02/14/2011 at 01:35 PM EST

What happened to Serene Branson?

The experienced, award-winning reporter for CBS 2 in Los Angeles tried to give a live report from the Grammys on Sunday night, but could barely get out an intelligible word.

Branson begins by saying, "A very, very heavy," then makes nonsensical sounds before the station cuts her off.

"Serene Branson was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast," CBS 2 said in a statement Monday. "Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home and she says that she is feeling fine this morning."

According to the station's Web site, Branson is a longtime news reporter who enjoys yoga in her spare time.
