The arrivals line at the 67th annual Golden Globes Awards proved uncharacteristically soggy on Sunday – but the stars still beamed as they walked the red carpet.

A downpour greeted nominees, presenters and guests as they poured from their limousines and into the Beverly Hilton Hotel. As Tina Fey described the scene, "It's not rain, it's just God crying for NBC."

Despite the weather, the stars made time for interview and fans. While George Clooney's constant companion Elisabetta Canalis remained shielded from the inclement weather, the actor braved the elements and the crowds, greeting people face-to-face in the grandstands and signing autographs.

Shrugging off the precipitation, a sunny Julia Roberts, who was accompanied by her agent and Tom Hanks, with wife Rita Wilson, used the TV cameras to wish First Lady Michelle Obama a happy birthday.

Double nominee Sandra Bullock, escorted by husband Jesse James, declined the offer to don a special Golden Globes Snuggie, but warned that if her hair got wet, it would instantly turn into "a giant Chia Pet." As for her dress, the Proposal star joked that it was made out of plastic.

Precious star Gabourey Sidibe simply gave up on staying dry and declared, "The rain is ruining my dress, but not my evening."

Also on the fashion front, Modern Family star Sofía Vergara said that now that her gown got wet she'd have to pay for it.

Then there was Taylor Lautner. Alone on the red carpet without an umbrella or, it appeared, a date, the Twilight star was asked by NBC's Natalie Morales if his friend Taylor Swift was also due to attend the evening's ceremony. Without so much as a blink, Lautner replied that he didn't know – but that his new movie, Valentine's Day, will open Feb. 12.

As for the rain, the teen hunk didn't appear phased by it at all.
