"We lose pigment in our skin tone as we age, so if you go too light blonde then you sort of look washed out," says celebrity colorist Rita Hazan, who suggests that blondes choose honey tones as they mature to better complement skin. "If you start having gray hair it means your skin tone is also fading. So that’s a good gauge of where you should be in your hair color."
