Although he didn’t break his own world record from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Bolt had enough of a lead at the end of the race to slow his pace and hold a finger to his lips, shushing the crowd. With his time of 19.32 seconds, he narrowly beat out fellow Jamaican teammates Yohan Blake (19.44) and Warren Weir (19.84).
“The guy is just on another planet now,” American sprinter Wallace Spearmon, who came in fourth place with a time of 19.90, told the Associated Press.
After the race, Bolt celebrated winning his fifth gold by hitting the pavement for five pushups. He then kissed the ground and continued with more pushups five minutes later.
