Baseball's Mike Piazza Now a Happy Father of Two

Early retirement is treating Mike Piazza well. The former all-star New York Mets catcher and wife Alicia Rickter are now raising two daughters, having just welcomed new addition Paulina Sophia to the family.

“We are blessed to have two healthy girls – we are so grateful,” Piazza, 41, tells PEOPLE.

Paulina arrived on Aug. 3 at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, weighing 6 lbs., 3 oz., and measuring 24½ inches long. She and mom Alicia, 37, an actress and former Playboy model, are healthy and happy, says a Piazza rep.

Oakland A’s catcher Mike Piazza and wife Alicia welcomed their first child, a daughter, on Saturday.

Nicoletta Veronica Piazza was born at 4:07 a.m. in New York City. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 8 oz. and measured 19 inches long.

“Both baby and mother are doing fine,” Piazza’s rep, Josh Goldberg, said in a statement to PEOPLE.

A onetime star hitter for the New York Mets, Piazza, 38, married the former Alicia Rickter, 34, a Baywatch alum, in a candlelit ceremony in Miami on Jan. 29, 2005.

Major League Baseball player Mike Piazza and his wife, former Playboy Playmate  Alicia Rickter, are expecting their first child, a daughter, in February.  The 12-time All Star recently signed a one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics.

LEGAL LOHAN: Two people are suing actress Lindsay Lohan in a personal injury claim, while her estranged father is threatening to fight for what he insists is his share of her earnings. In court papers, Eddie Pamilton and Ilex Harris claim Lohan was driving in Studio City, Calif., on Aug. 3 when she struck Pamilton’s vehicle, leaving the pair with continuing “pain, discomfort and physical disability.” They seek unspecified damages.

Mets' Mike Piazza Marries Baywatch Star

WED: New York Mets baseball star Mike Piazza, 36, married former Playboy Playmate and Baywatch costar Alicia Rickter, 32, before 120 people at a candlelight church ceremony in Miami on Saturday, the Associated Press reports. With former Mets pitcher Al Leiter and Detroit Tigers catcher Ivan Rodriguez among the baseball stars in attendance, Piazza and Rickter took their vows at St. Jude’s Catholic Church before boarding a yacht to a lavish reception at nearby Fisher Island.

Bobby Brown Goes to Trial over Whitney

RULED: Bobby Brown, 34, was ordered to stand trial Wednesday on charges that he hit his wife, Whitney Houston, last December. Brown and Houston exchanged smiles during a 5-minute court hearing in Atlanta, the Associated Press reports. Judge Barry Zimmerman also ordered Brown to turn himself in to authorities July 10 or 11 for fingerprinting. The judge also warned him against having “violent contact” with Houston. The couple left the courtroom walking arm-in-arm and made no comment to reporters.
