Laura Leighton Returns for CW's New Melrose Place

Laura Leighton’s character Sydney Andrews is back from the dead to star in the CW’s new version of Melrose Place.

“It was a near-fatal accident. You never actually saw her dead,” says a source familiar with the show, referring to what looked like Sydney’s demise in the original Melrose Place.

At the end of Season 5 of Melrose, a car struck Sydney on her wedding day and left fans believing that she’d died. But appearances can be deceiving: Leighton is back as Sydney who will be the landlord on the network’s updated series.

Laura Leighton & Doug Savant Have a Baby

Hollywood couple Laura Leighton and Doug Savant have welcomed a new baby into the family.

Their daughter, Lucy, was born on June 9 in Santa Monica, Calif. Leighton, 36, and Savant, 41, who stars in Desperate Housewives, also have a 4-year-old son, Jack.

The couple met as costars on the ’90s watercooler show Melrose Place and tied the knot in 1998. Though they met on the Fox drama, in which he played a gay social worker and she was a scheming call girl, they worked together for four years before becoming involved in 1997.

Nicole Kidman Gets Restraining Order

GRANTED: Nicole Kidman, 37, won her request for restraining orders against two freelance photographers Thursday after saying she had been a virtual prisoner in her Sydney home and feared for her safety because of them. The request followed the discovery of an electronic listening device outside her residence. Jamie Fawcett, 43, and Ben McDonald, 32, were ordered not to approach Kidman at her home or go within 60 ft. of her harbor-side home.
