American Idol's DeAndre Brackensick Excited for Prom

American Idol’s DeAndre Brackensick says he’s not going to return to regular classes at his high school, but he’s looking forward to one teenage rite of passage: senior prom.

“I’m so glad I finally get to go to a prom that I’m going to actually enjoy,” Brackensick told reporters after his elimination Thursday night. “Every dance I’ve ever had, I was either a ticket-taker or a coat-taker because I was just so uncomfortable with myself.”

Skylar Laine had her best performance so far – according to Randy Jackson – on American Idol Wednesday when she sang her ’80s selection “Wind Beneath My Wings” and performed a duet with her competitor Colton Dixon.

On Thursday, the pair – along with the rest of season 11’s top 8 contestants – faced another elimination.

After an emotional night of stellar performances – which earned a record five standing ovations from the judges! – American Idol’s top nine contestants faced another elimination night on Thursday.

The contestant with the lowest number of votes would have to sing for his or her life in an attempt to convince the judges into using their one save of the season.
