Originally posted 01/06/2009 05:30PM

She may not have an accident-prone husband like her character on the CBS comedy Worst Week, but Erinn Hayes does have one major thing in common with the pregnant Melanie Clayton: She's expecting!

Hayes, 32, tells PEOPLE exclusively that she and her husband, construction superintendent Jack Hayes, 34, planned the pregnancy to coincide with her character's. "I'm nothing if not an opportunist," jokes Hayes.

The actress, who is mom to 1½-year-old Maggie, is due in May. If Worst Week is picked up for a second season, Hayes will resume filming the slapstick show in August. "The timing couldn't be more perfect," she says.

Levi Johnston quit his job in an Alaskan oil field after questions of his eligibility surfaced, the Anchorage Daily News reports.

Johnston, 18, the boyfriend of Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, left his position in an electrical apprenticeship program, his father confirmed, after a newspaper columnist raised questions about whether he was eligible to participate.

Johnston had been working for ASRC Energy Services Inc. in North Slope County, Alaska, since the fall.

In his column, radio talk show host Dan Fagan said that federal regulations require members of the program to have a high school diploma – which Johnston does not. He also questioned Gov. Palin's involvement in securing the job for Johnston.

The governor has denied any help in securing Johnston the job. Palin, in an interview with the Anchorage Daily News said she considered Fagan's column "a political potshot taken at me," one that threatens to "destroy a young man's opportunity for work."

To get ready for the Golden Globe Awards, one 66-year-old Hollywood icon had a little work done.

The venerable Globe statuettes have undergone minor changes to improve their "detail and symmetry" and to firm up the frame "so they will be more durable in transit," says Jorge Camara, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which sponsors the awards.

The trophy also has a new marble base and an improved, velvet-lined, leather-bound carrying case.

On July 12, while shooting Oliver Stone's biopic W, Brolin, Wright and five members of the film's crew were arrested on misdemeanor charges – including interfering with police officers – at the Stray Cat Club, where the fight reportedly broke out.

Los Angeles attorney Blair Berk, who represented all seven of the implicated parties, says prosecutors in Shreveport have agreed to drop all charges against the group within 60 days, the Associated Press reports.
