Oh, what a difference a week makes.

Last Thursday, the American Idol top 8 spent elimination night celebrating the judge’s choice to use their only save of the season on contestant Sam Woolf, but this week the reality set in that there are no more second chances.

Coming off a strong night of performances on Wednesday’s ’80s-themed show, it was anyone’s guess which of the remaining contestants would be placed in the bottom three and who would be sent home with the lowest number of votes.

Keep reading to find out who was eliminated.

The contestants did not have to wait long Thursday before host Ryan Seacrest revealed that C.J. Harris and Malaya Watson were in danger of going home, with Watson ultimately announced as the contestant leaving the competition.

The judges stood for Watson, who wiped tears away as her goodbye package rolled. And her fellow contestants joined her on stage as she performed “I Am Changing” from the Dreamgirls soundtrack.
