Reigning Olympic downhill champion Lindsey Vonn crashed Tuesday while training for her return to racing following major knee surgery.
“Lindsey crashed earlier this morning while training at Copper Mountain in Colorado. She was not admitted to the hospital and is currently being evaluated by Dr. Sterett back in Vail,” her rep tells PEOPLE.
“We expect to have clarity on the situation in the next 24 hours. We will provide updates when we know more and appreciate your patience.”
U.S. Ski Team spokesman Tom Kelly said he is not sure whether Vonn hurt her surgically repaired right knee.
“We have no reason to believe it’s anything significant right now. She was not hospitalized. It will be up to Lindsey to discuss any details beyond that.” Kelly said.
The four-time overall World Cup champion tore her ACL and MCL in a crash at the world championships in February. She has been aiming to return to World Cup competition next week in Beaver Creek, Colo.
The Sochi Games are in February.
