When you are best friends, have gobs of money and a love for the Mexican seaside, there is really only one thing to do: build jaw-dropping adjoining Mexican villas, of course!

Just ask longtime BFFs George Clooney, Rande Gerber and wife Cindy Crawford, who did just that in Los Cabos, on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja peninsula, and are showing off their to-die-for vacation homes in November’s Architectural Digest.

The trio named the compound Casamigos – “House of Friends” – and the longtime close pals, who launched a tequila company of the same name, use the structures accordingly.

“Our lives go back and forth,” Crawford, 47, tells the magazine. “We ll have cocktails at our place and dinner at George’s, and vice versa.”

The oceanside properties toe the line between upscale and laid-back, and feature large windows and doorways as well as open-air courtyards.

“They wanted houses that were very elegant and almost like an art piece,” their architect, Véctor Legorreta, tells the magazine. But where you would still be comfortable walking around barefoot and in a swimsuit.”

Clooney, 52, also told Architectural Digest he wanted the homes to “blend in” with its surroundings, and “be something indigenous that would feel in harmony with the setting.”

Initially, the trio planned to build one large home for all of them – including Crawford and Gerber’s two children, son Presley, 14, and daughter Kaya, 12 – but the idea was squashed when they they decided, “it s just nice at the end of the night to have your own place to go back to,” Gerber, 51, explained.

On the outside, the two homes look quite similar, but inside the decor in each reflects their personal style. Case in point: Clooney’s pad features an extra-large bar where pals gather to watch sports on a wide-screen TV.

Both homes also feature large swimming pools out front. We can only assume Clooney pal and practical joke victim Sandra Bullock now knows that she must take a dip at her own risk.
