Oscar Pistorius, the first Paralympian to compete in the able-bodied Olympics, was indicted in a South African court Monday, charged with the premeditated murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

His case will go to trial March 3, 2014, reports The New York Times.

Pistorius has been free on bail since February and will remain so, said Magistrate Desmond Nair.

At Monday s brief hearing in Pretoria, the state prosecution outlined its case, saying Pistorius shot Steenkamp on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, as she cowered behind a locked bathroom door in his upscale residence.
