The host of VH1 Big Morning Buzz Live with Carrie Keagan takes on her sixth Comic-Con in San Diego and will be guest-blogging for PEOPLE. You can also follow her coverage on Twitter and Instagram. Like all good Trekkies at the Con, I had to get my Captain Kirk fix. I got to mainline mine while moderating the “Comedy Legends of TV Land” panel with Wayne Knight (NEWMAN!), Roseanne Barr and the one and only Mr. William Shatner!
Hanging with William Shatner on Thursday at Comic-Con is like being Buddy the Elf with Santa Claus. I kept saying to myself, “I know him!” Favorite moment was when Shatner had Roseanne tell a dirty joke in exchange for a chance to hear him sing. Guess what he sang: the National Anthem. Lol.
Running into Jack Black, on my way out, was awesome. He was in town pimping his new series Ghost Ghirls. It’s the first time I’ve seen him since I roasted him at the Friars Club in N.Y.C. a couple of months back. Just to make sure there was no bad blood, I made sure to remind him what a big fan I am of Heat Vision & Jack. Then we went over some lyrics for a Tenacious D song none of which I can repeat here!
Another reunion I tried not to break out in hives over was the 20th anniversary of The X-Files, with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson talking sex and sequels. Maybe Mulder and Scully can take a look at this.
On my way out, I hooked up with a Ghostbuster, saw two Bioshock Infinite steam-punk kids make a run for the convention center and did my best Carrie impression in front of the poster. How could I resist!!
Then it was time to hit the Nerdist stage at Petco Park for my sit down with rock legend Slash, who’s produced his first horror movie, Nothing Left to Fear. Turns out he watches my show Big Morning Buzz Live when he’s home with the kids!!
I was especially dorked out to catch the tail end of the final bloody panel for Dexter. Each year I hope to see signs saying “beware of splash” as they hand you a clear plastic poncho and each year I am disappointed, but seeing Michael C. Hall and the cast more than made up for it. I’m really going to miss this show.
On my way over to hang with the Rotten Tomatoes guys, I saw Hugh Dancy getting ready to do his Hannibal panel. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how much I love the show and snap this photo. I can’t wait for this season on DVD!
When the sun went down I ducked into the creepy Insidious 2 Haunted House and ended my day right back where I started at the Hard Rock shindig for the movie The World’s End. I found director Edgar Wright and his cohorts Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in the crowd of happy and exhausted fans. Let the record show, I would be MORE than happy to selflessly drink with Edgar, Simon and Nick any day, any time in order to save all of human kind. And you’re welcome!!
Note to self: Get some sleep, and wear comfortable shoes tomorrow because I plan to be busier than a phone line during a 1992 LAN party.
