The first Battle Rounds brought out the best in the singers Monday on The Voice. But in the end, the night belonged to Amanda Brown and Trevin Hunte, whose rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love” blew away the judges.
“I should not have paired y’all together. I’m mad I don’t want to lose either one of you!” Cee Lo Green, who struggled to declare a victor, grumbled.
The duet was “hands down the best performance we’ve had in the Battle Rounds so far,” Christina Aguilera said.
Green ultimately chose Hunte, and Brown went with her “gut feeling” by choosing an ecstatic Adam Levine as her new coach. “He is my true competition now, because he has the other best [contestant],” Green said of Levine.
