The signs and banners have gone up in Seattle: “Welcome Home, Amanda.”
Four years after she was arrested and jailed for her roommate’s murder in Italy, Amanda Knox is on her way back home to Seattle, where a warm homecoming celebration is in the works.
“We’ve spent a lot of time waiting,” her uncle Michael Huff tells the Associated Press. “We’re planning a big hug. We’ll see day to day how it goes. She’s going to have to get acclimated. She’s a strong kid.”
After an appeals court in Perugia overturned the murder conviction, Knox, 24, boarded a British Airways flight with her family in Rome on Tuesday morning bound for Seattle after a London stopover.
