“My parents allowed my brother and I to have our freedom,” she tells Elle magazine. “[We could] be ourselves and feel confident in our choices and make mistakes without too much judgment.”
Hudson, 32, who has “had lots of talks about parenting and being a working mom” with her mother Goldie Hawn, says she hopes she “can do as good a job” as her parents did with letting sons Ryder, 7½, and Bingham, 4 weeks, find their own path without unnecessary criticism.
“[My mom] never hands out unsolicited preachy words of wisdom,” Hudson says.
“I would never want to be with someone who complains and goes, ‘Oh, my god, my life is so crazy,’ ” she says. “If you make the best of it, it can be amazing.”
“Most relationships I’ve had in my life have been with people who travel quite a bit for work,” Hudson continues. “It is nice to be with somebody who understands having to be on the move.”
