If any tears were shed by Wendy Williams following her elimination on Dancing with the Stars, they were likely ones of joy.

The talk show host, 46, says the six weeks she devoted to rehearsals and performances took its toll on her personal and professional life, and she can’t wait for things to go back to normal.

“I don’t feel like I deserved any of the scores that I got, but still I am ironically pleased to be going home,” Williams told PEOPLE backstage Tuesday night, right after she was eliminated. “I have neglected personally [my] 10-year-old son, I have a 12-year marriage and I’ve got a talk show that demands my attention.”

Though she received some low scores – and not enough votes to save her from elimination – Williams returns to her life with her confidence intact. Plus, the talk show diva says her ability to be honest about herself is what audiences like about her.

“I know I make some people cringe,” she told Essence for the magazine’s first-ever “Girlfriends issue.” “But I also know my willingness to expose myself, warts and all, is part of the reason people are drawn to me. With me, what you see is what you get.”
