It’s an honor to be nominated and even better to win, but for viewers at home, one of the best things about the Grammy Awards is the dazzling – and often surprising – array of artists who come together for unique live performances.
Remember Prince and Beyoncé bringing down the house with a funky rendition of “Purple Rain” on 2004’s show? Or the Jonas Brothers teaming with Stevie Wonder last year? Don t forget Radiohead’s mind-blowing collaboration with the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band.
While the Recording Academy is likely drafting a wish list of presenters and performers now – last year’s telecast boasted 25 musical numbers! – PEOPLE humbly submits some pairings we’d love to see when the Grammy Awards air on CBS on Jan. 31.
Taylor Swift & Kanye West
Pair country music’s reigning superstar – and eight-time nominee – Taylor Swift with Kanye West for a run through her record of the year nominated hit “You Belong With Me” and we’re guessing sparks could fly. Kanye may not be Swift’s parents’ idea of an ideal beau but the song is all about how opposites attract. We say let genres collide and the healing begin!
