Not everybody is impressed with Lance Armstrong’s cycling comeback.
The 37-year-old seven-time Tour de France winner raced to a respectable third-place finish in the grueling event this year, but when he went to get his trophy Sunday, son Maxwell slept through the ceremony.
Of course, Max is not yet 2 months old.
Born June 4, Max is the first child for Lance and girlfriend Anna Hansen. Armstrong is also dad to 9-year-old Luke and 7-year-old twins Isabelle and Grace with ex-wife Kristin Richard. All four children were on hand to witness the ceremony, each wearing a splash of yellow – including Max, who sported shoes in the signature hue of a Tour de France winner.
Although he was unable to climb atop the podium this year, Lance tells the Associated Press that he harbors no regrets, adding that it’s “a healthy thing” for his children to see him remain upbeat. “Because they saw their dad that never lost, the kids in their class [say], ‘Your dad never loses,’” says Armstrong. “So it’s good for them to see dad get third and still be cool with that and still be happy.”
