Dynasty star John Forsythe, who played patriarch Blake Carrington on the primetime soap and was the voice of Charlie in both the TV and film versions of Charlie’s Angels, was treated for colon cancer this week and is now recovering at a Los Angeles hospital, his rep said Thursday.
The actor, 88, was diagnosed on Sept. 28 and taken to the hospital, spokesman Harlan Boll told the Associated Press, adding: “He seems to be in good spirits. They hope to have him home this weekend.”
Forsythe received three Emmy nominations for Dynasty, which ran from 1981-89. After making his film debut in 1943, he also appeared in the Alfred Hitchcock movies The Trouble With Harry (1955) and Topaz (1969) as well as 1988’s Scrooged, among many others.
He married his third wife, businesswoman Nicole Carter, in 2002 and lives with her on their L.A.-area ranch.
On Oct. 6, Forsythe’s Charlie’s Angels costar Farrah Fawcett, 59, revealed that she too is battling cancer.
