She may be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for Pride & Prejudice, but Keira Knightley still can’t get any respect from her family and friends. “They’ve all been taking the piss out of me mercilessly,” Knightley says about her Pirates of the Caribbean costars, including Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, who’ve been taunting her on the set of the movie’s sequels. “Every single time I do a take, they go, ‘Is that an Oscar-nominated take?’ ”
And even her own mom has brought Knightley back down to earth: She predicted that her daughter wasn’t going to win a trophy. “She felt really guilty about it,” the actress said at the Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills. “She said that she’d bet a tenner on me. My odds are 33:1, so I think she probably loses (it).” We ll have to wait until the night of the Academy Awards (March 5) to see.
Jesse Metcalfe was the man of the hour when he hosted the pre-Valentine’s Day Heartbreaker’s Ball at Crobar in Miami Beach. After arriving in a stretch limo, the Desperate Housewives actor was swarmed by women in the club’s VIP room and posed for photos with 20 pre-selected lucky ladies. “The girls flocked to him,” says a source. Next, he partied at Ocean Drive magazine’s 13th anniversary fete at Mansion along with Paris Hilton, rapper Ja Rule and Jon Bon Jovi, and then at 4 a.m. adjourned to Rok Bar with several female companions.
